Oregon Tuna Classic wraps up
The Oregon Tuna Classic finished up last weekend in Garibaldi, and local team Green Lightning Laundry didn’t fare well enough to take home the top prize – an invitation to the International Game Fish Association’s Offshore World Championship.
But 48 teams brought back 6,414 pounds of tuna to donate to Tillamook County food banks.
Top anglers in Garibaldi were: first place finisher Albie Damned with 139.3 pounds; second place, Fat Cat with 134.5 pounds; and third place, Defiance/CornFed with 129.8 pounds.
Albie Damned donated its first-place prize of $3,000 back to the Oregon Tuna Classic.
Just Keep Fishing, which had a small overall lead over Green Lightning Laundry, held on for the win despite not landing on the podium last weekend. The local team took home second place overall after a tough weekend of fishing.
Just Keep Fishing received the berth to the IGFA Offshore World Championship next May, since the tournament is now an IGFA qualifier.
