OK, so I told you that I actually tried my Pilates video last night…yeah, I don’t like it.
I felt things pull and stretch in places I’m 99 percent haven’t pulled and stretched in a while — and I’m not really sure they should.
The experience, well, it was, how to I say this nicely, not so pleasant.
I’m still not really sure how I got up off the floor…I’ll say this, it wasn’t easy and my fat legs feel very tired today.
Needless to say, the thing that keeps going through my mind is to just give up…who needs exercise, right?
Yeah, as soon as said that to myself, I looked at my pudgy stomach and remembered why the pain, err..I mean exercise, is a necessary evil.
Maybe I’ll give it another try…
Maybe, but I make no promises that I’m gonna like it.

One thing all of us “more than petite” people have one thing in common. Not one of us exercises and says to ourselves “That sure felt good, I feel like a new person”. It’s more like “how can something so good for me hurt so much”
But if you stick with it, it does get easier. Look at the hit TV series Biggest Loser. Those guys and gals are totally out of shape. Most of them could barely walk around the block at the beginning of the show. At the end they could run on a treadmill. Heck the last 4 even did a full marathon.
And the go home winner who did the best must have been over 60 years old. That means us younger people have no excuse. If he can do it we can do it.
It’s mind over matter. Keep it up, look towards the end of the road, not the daily struggles!
And Happy Birthday!
I don’t exactly like exercising either. But doing the whole roller derby/ sports thing is really helpful because I’m getting a workout while doing something I find really fun. This way, I don’t have to think of a distraction while I’m taking a jog I don’t want to be on, or counting down the minutes as I exercise bike my way to thinner thighs I’m not genetically prone to.
Plus, roller derby helps with the whole body image thing. I feel better that I got a work out, I don’t feel as guilty if I eat junk food – although I still feel somewhat guilty – and I work out my near ever-present aggression.
Wanna go roller skating?
Exercising is never easy. I’m in the same boat as you are right now. I have PCOS, and decided to take back control of my life. The eating healthy part isn’t all that hard for me, except for maybe cutting back on sugar and not eating chocolate. I’m a huge chocoholic. The hardest part is the exercising. My advice to you would be find something you enjoy doing. You like to walk, go for walks outside with pretty views or go to the beach and walk. I love to swim, so I got a gym membership and started swimming again. I even took up water aerobics. It’s fun, thus making it easy to stick to. Good luck!!
Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!
