Macro

Macro photography is a great way to make small things look BIG. There’s no secret to macro work. All you need is a macro lens. Macro lenses have a short focusing distance, which allows you to get the lens very close to your subject. If your subject is easily spooked, use a telephoto macro lens to get in close. The first image, Zachery Kissinger of Coquille with ‘Morph,’ a blue Chorus frog that he found in his yard, gives you perspective on the size of the frog. The second image shows you in great detail, the frog’s skin and colorful eye. Macro lenses create a shallow depth of field, even at higher apertures, so consider shooting at f/8 to get more detail. This image was shot at f/5.6 and still produced a shallow depth-of-field.
