SUV hits Texas church before Sunday service

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

I know some people had a hard time when younger learning left and right, but by the time they drive this should all be sorted out.   Gas pedal on the right, break to the left of that.   Or it could be as simple as she got tired of not getting a front row seat and she thought she’d clear the place out with a small diversion.

Okay so this wasn't the photo, but it looks good

GILMER, Texas (AP) — Three people were injured when an SUV crashed into a church in eastern Texas just as the service was about to start.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kenneth Nolley told the Tyler Courier Times Telegraph that the SUV crashed into the auditorium of the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Gilmer on Sunday morning. Nolley said the driver indicated she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake.

Nolley said the driver would not be cited because the accident happened on private property.

The driver was not injured. However, three other people, including two children, were taken to hospitals. All were treated and released.

Police: Texting, talking NY trucker hits car, pool

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Hmmm. . .  Wonder what was so important that he had to text while driving a Semi.   Texting in a car is bad enough but add 80,000 pounds to the equation and watch out.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a western New York tow truck driver was texting on one cell phone while talking on another when he slammed into a car and crashed into a swimming pool.

Niagara County sheriff’s deputies say 25-year-old Nicholas Sparks of Burt admitted he was texting and talking when his flatbed truck hit the car Wednesday morning in Lockport, which is outside Buffalo.

The truck then crashed through a fence and sideswiped a house before rolling into an in-ground pool.

Police say the 68-year-old woman driving the car suffered head injuries and was in good condition. Her 8-year-old niece suffered minor injuries.

Sparks was charged with reckless driving, talking on a cell phone and following too closely. It couldn’t be determined Thursday whether he has a lawyer.

Driver tells police snakes led to SUV crash

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

“Yeah occifer, it’z the ‘nakes that made me crash the car.”   For some reason I don’t think that is going to fly in the face of an accident.  We will have to keep an eye on this story.

trousersnake12 300x225 Driver tells police snakes led to SUV crash HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Police say a driver blamed a car crash in Hartford, Conn., on two pet baby snakes that he said escaped from his pants pockets as he was driving.

Hartford police Sgt. Christene Mertes says Angel Rolon, of New Britain, claimed he lost control of his SUV on Monday when the snakes slithered near the gas and brake pedals and he and a passenger tried to catch them. The SUV veered into some parked cars and overturned.

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile crashes into home

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Of all the things you picture crashing into your house, the neighbor kid on his bike, the new motorhome, some drunk driver, or whatever, I’ll bet you never pictured getting your house run into by a wienermobile.   I wonder if the insurance claim will be payed in hot dogs.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (AP) — One southern Wisconsin homeowner is probably not in love with the Oscar Mayer wiener. The famed hot dog’s Wienermobile crashed Friday into the deck and garage of a home in Mount Pleasant, about 35 miles south of Milwaukee.

Police said the driver was trying to turn the Wienermobile around in the driveway and thought she was moving in reverse. But she instead went forward and hit the home. It sat in the driveway as if it were stuck in the garage Friday afternoon.

No one was home and no one was injured. No citations were immediately issued.

Both the home and vehicle suffered moderate damage, which Oscar Mayer spokeswoman Sydney Lindner says insurance will cover.

Police hadn’t been able to speak to the homeowner as of early Friday evening.
