Passers-by call police over topless gardener

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I just don’t get people.  I am all for their right to be nude (or partially nude) if it is within the laws but what kind of person would do this where school children are exposed to it.  I’d have charged her with something related to exposing herself to children if she was in their line of site.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — A nudist in Boulder who was threatened with eviction last spring for gardening outside wearing only pasties and a thong has caused another stir by gardening topless. At least four callers told police 52-year-old Catharine Pierce was in her yard topless on Wednesday. State law prohibits exposed genitals, but Pierce was wearing a thong and gardening gloves.

Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said an officer told Pierce to consider wearing a shirt because children at the school across the street were playing outside.

Pierce’s husband then complained to police. Huntley said a police supervisor agreed with Pierce’s husband that Pierce wasn’t breaking any laws.

Boulder is considering expanding its anti-nudity law.

PETA offers anti-meat trash cans for parks

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Gotta love PETA they are nothing if not creative.   I think if it helps get trash cans I say, bring it on meatless ones!   I will still throw my KFC wrappers in the trash can, but for a split second I will think about a vegan lifestyle.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The animal rights group PETA is offering to help the cash-strapped city of Colorado Springs by paying to put trash cans back in parks – on one condition. The cans have to carry an anti-meat slogan and a picture of a woman in a lettuce bikini.

The city stopped picking up trash in parks to save money, and all the trash cans have been removed.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals told city officials Wednesday they’d pay for new trash cans saying “Meat Trashes the Planet” and “Go Vegan.” The cans also have PETA’s logo and the lettuce-clad model.

Mayor Lionel Rivera says he’ll consider the offer if it PETA also pays to have the trash picked up and hauled to the dump.

But he joked that the Colorado Beef Council might demand equal time.

Cops: Pair allegedly use jury box to smuggle drugs

Friday, January 29th, 2010

And these two are wondering how they ended up in jail.  If they are this stupid I think it was a forgone conclusion that their life of crime would end up with 3 hots and a cot.  See ya in 5 to 10.

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — It was a dumb way to try to sneak drugs into prison. Pueblo County authorities said a 22-year-old woman worked out a plan with her boyfriend to get narcotics into jail Wednesday through a courtroom exchange at her own sentencing hearing. Officials learned of the plot because the woman in jail, Felisha Trujillo, and her boyfriend talked about the plot on a monitored phone line.

Phil Martinez, 26, allegedly dropped a bag of narcotics in the jury box before Trujillo’s hearing, when the courtroom was empty. The alleged drug drop happened minutes after elementary school students had finished a mock trial in the same courtroom.

Detectives were watching, and Martinez was arrested. Both Martinez and Trujillo face drug and contraband charges.

Bag with Kermit the Frog causes school closure

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

As a kid I always thought that Kermit might just be a terrorist.  There was something about him, like he was trying to blend in (and no, I don’t mean blend like a frog in a blender) a little to hard.   Now we know he was and the’s guys took it seriously.   It does turn out that he was just a stuffed frog in a bag.

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (AP) — Boulder authorities locked down a Lafayette charter school while they examined a duffel bag left at the campus parking lot that ended up containing a Kermit the Frog doll. Boulder County’s bomb squad responded to the Peak to Peak Charter School after an employee there called at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday to report the unattended bag. Authorities used a robot with movable arms and a camera to investigate the bag and then an officer inspected it to make sure it was safe.

Authorities cleared the scene at about 10 a.m. Students and staff were locked down until then in a campus building.

The charter school is for K-12 students.
