Cop stops go-cart, arrests man on drug charges

Friday, March 5th, 2010

UNION, S.C. (AP) — A go-cart wasn’t much of a getaway vehicle for a South Carolina man. The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that sheriff’s deputies have arrested 29-year-old Edward Matthew Sweezy of Union after they stopped him last week at an intersection in Union.

The deputy had heard a report of a stolen go-cart and turned on his lights and siren after spotting it less than a half mile from Sweezy’s home.

Sweezy is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

The deputy’s report says the men struggled and the officer spotted a crack pipe and a bottle with three pills inside.

The sheriff’s report said they turned the go-cart over to Sweezy’s wife.

It was unclear if Sweezy had hired an attorney.

Police: Man tries to buy crack with credit card

Monday, February 8th, 2010

There’s nothing like getting busted for a crime when the reality is, stupidity should be the crime.   This guy needs some help or he’ll never make it on the new Fox show “Are you smarter than a toddler?”

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Authorities said a man accused of stealing a car then reporting it stolen remains in custody after telling police he was robbed at gunpoint while trying to buy crack cocaine with a credit card. The Flint Journal said the man reported Thursday night that a 2003 Chevy Malibu had been stolen.

Police reports indicated the vehicle was previously stolen out of Lapeer, about 50 miles north-northwest of Detroit.

The suspect is being lodged at the Genesee County Jail.

No further details were released.

Road crash turns into 238-pound pot bust

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Oh boy I think there’s gunna be some ‘splainin to do on this one.  So you say the drugs aren’t yours but we have your shoe print in the snow going back and forth between the drugs and the car.  Give us your best story then call your lawyer!

TUCUMCARI, N.M. (AP) — Tracks in the snow leading from a crashed car to the nearby bridge overpass on New Mexico’s I-40 just didn’t look right to officers.

State police say that officers patrolling the stretch near Tucumcari Saturday found that 40-year-old Henry Alan Lowe of El Paso, Texas, had lost control of his sedan and crashed into a snow pile.

Then they noticed tracks leading back and forth from the trunk to the bridge.

They allege that partially hidden under the overpass were large plastic wrapped bundles and inside was about 238 pounds of raw marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $642,000.

Police say Lowe was arrested after treated for a gash to his head.

Cops: Pair allegedly use jury box to smuggle drugs

Friday, January 29th, 2010

And these two are wondering how they ended up in jail.  If they are this stupid I think it was a forgone conclusion that their life of crime would end up with 3 hots and a cot.  See ya in 5 to 10.

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — It was a dumb way to try to sneak drugs into prison. Pueblo County authorities said a 22-year-old woman worked out a plan with her boyfriend to get narcotics into jail Wednesday through a courtroom exchange at her own sentencing hearing. Officials learned of the plot because the woman in jail, Felisha Trujillo, and her boyfriend talked about the plot on a monitored phone line.

Phil Martinez, 26, allegedly dropped a bag of narcotics in the jury box before Trujillo’s hearing, when the courtroom was empty. The alleged drug drop happened minutes after elementary school students had finished a mock trial in the same courtroom.

Detectives were watching, and Martinez was arrested. Both Martinez and Trujillo face drug and contraband charges.
