Woman who demanded conjugal visit charged with DUI

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Another fine example of stupidity in Florida!  I guess if you can’t get your conjugal visit it’s better to get caught and get three hots and a cot for a DUI!   Way to go, unfortunately no one told this lady jails aren’t coed.

BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) — A woman was charged with driving under the influence after showing up at the Flagler County jail and demanding a conjugal visit with a specific inmate. The sheriff’s office reports that a 45-year-old woman had a visitation appointment but was turned away because she was late. Also, the jail does not allow conjugal visits.

The woman drove away but reportedly returned a short time later. Jail guards called road patrol, because they suspected the woman had been drinking.

Deputies found the woman sitting in her car. She reportedly failed a field sobriety test, and a breath test showed her blood-alcohol content was 0.256 percent. Florida law considers a person impaired at 0.08.

The woman was charged with DUI and later released on $500 bail.

Trooper accused of writing bogus tickets

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

So now you can even get tickets after the fact.  Oh boy!  I hope they throw the book at him, pun intended

MIAMI (AP) — A Florida Highway Patrol trooper based in South Florida has been arrested on charges of official misconduct, after authorities said he wrote hundreds of fake citations to drivers. Paul C. Lawrence was accused of trying to increase the number of citations he issued by writing bogus tickets. More than 200 traffic tickets he issued since November have been dismissed, and there may be more.

Authorities grew suspicious when the ticketed motorists began complaining they knew nothing about the citations. Prosecutors said Lawrence had used information from drivers he previously stopped to draft new tickets.

A spokesman for the FHP said they don’t operate on a quota system.

Lawrence could not be reached for comment.

Man calls detectives after pot plants seized

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

I think Forest Gump said it best here: Stupid is as stupid does.   I see him as a Darwin recipient in training, time will hone his stupidity to an art form I imagine.  And to think it happened in Florida AGAIN!

MARATHON, Fla. (AP) — Investigators in the Florida Keys say they lured a suspected marijuana grower into turning himself in by leaving a ransom note in place of six seized pot plants.

The sheriff’s office in Monroe County says detectives discovered the plants in a wooded lot and confiscated them.

They left a phone number on a note that read: “Thanks for the grow! You want them back? Call for the price.”

Steven Alan Locasio called the number about 10 minutes later. Locasio offered $200 for the plants, and detectives agreed to meet him for an exchange.

Locasio was arrested and booked into jail on drug charges. He was expected to appear in court Tuesday. It’s unclear if he already has an attorney.

A telephone message left for Locasio was not immediately returned.

Man wanting ride to bar calls 911, arrested

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Again it only seems to happen in Florida.   I am going to assume this guy was not a rocket scientist and that he is closer to being a single celled amoeba, what a dolt!  Have a nice stay in the county lockup

OLDSMAR, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida man who called 911 claiming he’d been beaten and shot at was hoping the tale would get him a ride to a bar. Instead, 37-year-old Gregory J. Oras is facing charges of misusing the 911 system and battery of a law enforcement officer.

An arrest report says Oras called 911 three times before his arrest early Tuesday in Oldsmar, northwest of Tampa. He told the dispatcher he had a broken nose and bleeding ears, and claimed people were shooting at him.

Authorities say he was actually looking for a ride to another bar.

The report also says Oras kicked a Pinellas County sheriff’s deputy in the knees and a Taser was used to subdue him.

Online records show he is being held at the Pinellas County Jail but don’t indicate whether he has an attorney.
