Police: Man calls 911 about mom taking his beer

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I think maybe this bozo should consider stopping drinking altogether.  If you call the police on your mom for taking your beer you ARE the weakest link in a dysfunctional family.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) — A 32-year-old Pasco County man who called 911 to complain about his mother is facing criminal charges. According to a sheriff’s office arrest report, Charles Dennison told a deputy that his mother took his beer and he wanted her arrested. Dennison was reportedly “very intoxicated” when the deputy arrived at the New Port Richey home.

Dennison told the deputy that he would keep calling emergency responders if his mother wasn’t charged. He has been charged with making false 911 calls and was jailed on $150 bond.

It was unclear if he had an attorney.

NYC chef creates breast milk cheese

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I know we run a lot of weird stories but I think this one takes the cake, or maybe it should be cuts the cheese.  I am a big fan of cheese in just about any form but this is one I have to admit I wouldn’t even want to try, too weird!

NEW YORK (AP) — Breast milk cheese, anyone? A Manhattan chef has posted a recipe on his blog for what he calls “My spouse’s mommy milk cheese.” Daniel Angerer co-owns Klee Brasserie with his wife Lori Mason. A photo on his blog features the cheese encrusted with maple caramelized pumpkin and Concord grapes. They had an overabundance of milk for their newborn, Arabella Caroline. When their small freezer ran out of space, Angerer decided to experiment.

Angerer said his cooking instincts tend toward things natural. But even he admits: “THIS is a whole other level of ‘natural.’”

Pet shop owner claims fish is 43, weighs 20 pounds

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

This does sound a bit fishy!  If he got this as a wee kid in 1967 his parents wouldn’t likely have allowed him to call him buttkiss.  Starkiss maybe.  Either way this whole story makes me want a fish sandwich, are you buying this time?

NEW YORK (AP) — It sounds fishy but a New York City pet shop owner says it’s true. Buttkiss, the black pacu he owns, is 43 and weighs 20 pounds. A pacu is a breed that’s related to the piranha. Steve Gruebel owns Cameo Pet Shop in Queens. He got Buttkiss in 1967 when he was just a wee thing. He sold him a year later when Buttkiss was two inches long. But in 1970, Buttkiss was returned when he outgrew the buyer’s tank.

Buttkiss lives in only a four-foot-long, 75-gallon tank. Gruebel said he’s afraid to move him because he may not survive the changing environment.

Buttkiss is beginning to show his age. He has arthritic gills and glaucoma in his right eye.

Times Square shredder offers good riddance to 2009

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Hmmm I wonder what bad news I would shred?  Maybe all the murders and accidental deaths we have had this year, my tax bill, or all the nastiness going on over measures 66 & 67.

NEW YORK (AP) — Want to forget 2009? Shred it.

Scores of New Yorkers and tourists seeking a fresh start in 2010 came to Times Square on Monday to put their bad memories through the shredder at the third annual Good Riddance Day.

Ben Winnick of Simsbury, Conn., shredded a newspaper story about the New York Giants’ 41-9 loss Sunday to the Carolina Panthers, which ended the Giants’ playoff hopes.

“Hopefully, next season will be better,” he said.

Roxanne Rodriguez of Manhattan shredded a piece of paper with “Writer’s block” written on it. She intends to buckle down and write a musical.

“This is going to be the year I’m going to be dedicated and focused, and I will get something down on the page every day,” she promised.

The winner of a $250 prize for most creative item shredded was 12-year-old Alissa Yankelevits of Los Angeles, who is visiting her grandparents in New York. She shredded the memory of a counselor on a school trip who was later featured on the TV show “America’s Most Wanted.”

“I just spent a week with him,” Alissa said. “It was really terrifying because I just found that out.”

Good Riddance Day was organized by the Times Square Alliance as part of the buildup to Thursday’s ball-drop celebration.

Participants lined up near the booth where discount theater tickets are sold and pitched their bad memories into an industrial-sized shredder. A Dumpster and a sledgehammer were available for items that couldn’t be shredded, which included an old computer and a tin of fattening office snacks.

Some shredded reams of bills and correspondence while others sought to banish the memory of former boyfriends and girlfriends.

Gillian Lyons broke up with a man she calls “the Beastmaster” and said she’s been waiting for him to return her possessions for two years. “He won’t give me back the TV I paid for,” she complained.
