Sleeping man shocked after cold man jumps into bed

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Talk about strange bedfellows.  I have had something similar to this happen.  I was home one afternoon I heard the door open and then the bathroom door close.  I assumed it was my wife since the timing was right.  About 5 minutes later she came home and said hi.  I asked what took her so long to say hi and she said she just got there.  I got up and checked the bathroom was locked.  Turns out my neighbor in the apartment was drunk and came in the wrong place.  I didn’t press charges but it was pretty weird.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police said a man broke into a Pittsburgh home and climbed into bed with its owner, apparently because he was drunk and cold following a rap concert. Homeowner Frank Fontana says he was in bed when the man climbed in about 5:30 Wednesday morning. Fontana says he asked whether it was a woman who has keys to his home – and he grabbed a baseball bat when a deep male voice answered, “No, it’s not.”

Police said Fontana kept the man at bay until police arrived but didn’t hit him with the bat.

Police say the intruder told them he was looking for shelter after a Tuesday night concert by rapper Jay-Z at the Mellon Arena.

The 33-year-old man faces a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

Bank wrongly repossessed home, took bird

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

She must have a nice bird, had a contractor come in and tried to take the parrot I had, he’d have bitten chunks out of him!  As for wrongful repossesion it’ll be interesting to hear how that happened if it did?

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pittsburgh-area woman is suing Bank of America, claiming it wrongfully repossessed her home and saying that a bank contractor trashed the house and took her parrot.

Forty-six-year-old Angela Iannelli sued Bank of America in Allegheny County on Monday. She claims her mortgage payments were on time when the contractor damaged furniture, took her pet parrot and padlocked the door to her Allison Park home in October.

Bank of America declined to comment. The suit seeks unspecified damages.

Iannelli’s attorney says she suffered irreparable emotional damage and is afraid to set foot in the house. The lawsuit says she eventually regained possession of the bird, named Luke, after repeated phone calls to the bank.

Man steals $50, flees on Walmart scooter

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I wonder if the police had to do the pit maneuver on the scooter to get him to stop.  Imagine if he’d gotten into a residential section of town doing 4 mph and threatening life and property.  I am glad the police were there to stop him!

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Police say a Pennsylvania man in a hospital gown stole $50 from his ex-girlfriend at Wal-Mart, then tried to flee on a store-owned motorized shopping scooter.

Thirty-two-year-old Craig David Jr., of Smithfield, was charged Wednesday with robbery and disorderly conduct.

State police Cpl. Chuck Frey says David had just been released from a hospital for injuries in a domestic dispute Jan. 1. Frey says David had been hit with a frying pan and table leg.

David was still in a hospital gown Tuesday night when he met an ex-girlfriend who agreed to pay for his prescription medication. Instead, police say he grabbed $50 from her and scooted away.

David remained jailed Thursday. He does not have an attorney.

Mouse infestation closes cafeteria

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Mental Note to self – Don’t ever eat at his cafeteria.   No sir that isn’t mouse poop, it’s brown sprinkles.   We add them to all the deserts.  YICK!

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Why is the cafeteria at the Pennsylvania Capitol infested with mice? Probably because health inspectors didn’t visit it for four years.

State law requires annual checks for health and sanitation. Auditor General Jack Wagner said Thursday he received assurances in 2005 that the state Agriculture Department would inspect it.

He says his auditors later received false assurances that it was being inspected regularly.

When an inspection was finally done last week, authorities found “excessive” droppings on food preparation equipment and in cabinets and utensil bins. That’s an imminent health risk.

The ground-floor cafeteria is now closed and is not expected to reopen until January.

It is a popular coffee and lunch spot for statehouse visitors and employees.
