Man tells cops God told him to stroll in the nude

Friday, May 21st, 2010

As far as excuses go, “God told me to do it” is pretty good but for some reason I don’t think this will be helping him much.

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — A man who told police that God told him to walk the streets naked to save his soul has been arrested. Thibodaux police responded to an obscenity complaint around 2 a.m. Thursday and found Shafiq Mohamed walking nude down the street. When approached, Mohamed reportedly told officers that “America raped him” and added God told him to walk the streets naked to save his soul.

Mohamed was taken into custody and charged with obscenity. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he awaited bail.

It was not immediately known whether Mohamed has an attorney.

Ohio police seek bank robber who handed two $100 bills to passers-by as he ran away

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Come on this can’t be for real I am sure they were just doing this to hype up the new robin hood flick coming out.  What kind of robber gives away the loot?

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police in Columbus are looking for a man they say robbed a bank near downtown, then handed two $100 bills to passers-by as he ran away. FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas said the man robbed a Huntington Bank branch early Monday afternoon after showing a teller a gun in his waistband. Trombitas said the man was running up the street when he encountered a mother and daughter window-shopping.

The robber stopped and gave them each a $100 bill, assured them it was real, then kept running.

Trombitas said the mother and daughter from the Cleveland area were in town for a visit to Ohio State.

They took the money to the nearest bank which turned out to be the Huntington branch that was just robbed, and there told police what happened.

Crew mistakenly demolishes the wrong house

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

OMG I hate it when that happens.  I have a bad day at work and something is missing on a website, these guys have a bad day at work and someones house is accidentally dimolished.

DENTON, Texas (AP) — A woman was trying to figure out what to do after a demolition crew wrongly tore down most of her house, instead of one across the street. Francis Howard told the Denton Record-Chronicle that “I don’t have the words to say” about what happened to her family’s longtime home. The 69-year-old woman, who lives with her son in Frisco, said Monday that the family had resided in the Denton home for 47 years.

Much of the house was demolished April 21.

City records show the house that was supposed to be demolished was ordered in January to be repaired or torn down, due to unkept lawns, outside storage, junked vehicles and failure to secure the structure.

The landlord of the property that was to have been demolished declined comment.

Man on lawn mower charged with DUI, theft and burglary

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I am not sure DUI is the right charge, maybe driving while imbibing with the intent to mow and fish.  Also was he charge for not having tail-lights?   And finally, where was he going fishing, does he know a secret place we could reveal?

ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) — An East Tennessee man driving a lawn mower in the road has been charged with DUI. Athens police said 30-year-old Jimmy Graham Jr. smelled like alcohol and failed a sobriety test Monday after an officer spotted him on the lawn mower. He told the officer he had consumed a beer and taken a stress reliever prescribed to him.

A jailer said Graham was in custody Tuesday and there was no record of him having a lawyer.

The Daily Post-Athenian in Athens reported that Graham was also charged with aggravated burglary and theft under $500.

A police report shows Graham told the officer he had stopped by a house to pick up some fishing poles. Police said the man who lives at the house where Graham had stopped on the mower told police the fishing poles were stolen from his garage.
