Barber tries to rob store over bad beef jerky

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I guess an eye for an eye isn’t enough.  He could have asked for his money back or to have the piece replaced.  Not this bad news barber, he went for the moon and the whole till.  I am guessing his liking of beef jerky will diminish with a big fine, or jail time.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Police said a Cleveland barber became so upset by what he considered bad beef jerky that he returned to the store where he bought it and tried to rob the owner. Police said the 28-year-old barber walked into the store where he bought the snack, just two doors down from his barbershop, and tried to rob the owner Thursday night.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A 34-year-old man is in custody after authorities say he gave a teller his account number and showed her his picture ID before robbing an Anchorage bank.

The FBI says Jarell Paul Arnold of Anchorage is being held on federal bank robbery charges.

The FBI alleges Arnold walked into an Alaska USA Federal Credit Union branch Friday and inquired about the balance on his account. The teller asked for his name, account number and ID.

Authorities say he complied, and then handed over a receipt with a note on the back that said he had a gun and demanded money.

The FBI says he got away with about $600. Authorities arrested Arnold on Monday. A message left after business hours Wednesday with Arnold’s public defender, Michael Dieni, was not immediately returned.

Court records say Arnold was sentenced to 57 months in prison for bank robbery in 2004.

Robber with toy gun and foiled by employee with cricket bat

Monday, July 13th, 2009

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in south Alabama say a gas station employee used a cricket bat to chase away a would-be robber who brandished a toy gun.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s office says the suspect entered Bee Gee’s gas station near Bay Minette Saturday afternoon and tried to use the fake weapon to steal money.

Sheriff’s Cpl. Mike Gaull tells the Press-Register of Mobile that the employee noticed the gun had an orange tip on the barrel and grabbed the cricket bat. The suspect then ran out of the store without any money.

The 22-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.
