Cops: Man drove drunk to prison for DUI sentence

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Nothing like an overachiever when it comes to incarceration.   If I can get 2 days for a DUI, why not show up drunk and hope for more?  After all prison is a 5 star venue, unfortunately it’s minus 5 stars, but hey if you are drunk it might be as nice as a Sandals resort (and you get to wear sandals).

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Police said a Massachusetts man headed to a Vermont prison to serve a two-day sentence for driving under the influence was intoxicated when he drove himself to prison.

Vermont State Police say that staff at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield noticed that a 42-year-old man was intoxicated when he arrived late Tuesday afternoon and that he had driven himself there.

So prison staff called police.

Police said the man was then processed for DUI second offense and released back into the custody of the Department of Corrections.

The man was due to appear in court later this month on the latest charge.

Women arrested for taking corpse onto plane

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Let me guess, the last movie they saw was weekend at Bernies.   Who thinks of this stuff?   When someone dies that last thing I’d want to do is put them in a plane.   Having watched a few too many episodes of CSI I don’t think the body processes that happen after death would go unnoticed in a confined space.

ZOMBIE 300x225 Women arrested for taking corpse onto planeLONDON (AP) — Police have arrested two women at an British airport after they reportedly tried to smuggle a corpse onto a flight.

Police said Tuesday the women were detained at Liverpool’s John Lennon airport “on suspicion of failing to give notification of death” of a 91-year-old man.

The BBC and other British media reported that the women placed the man, a relative of theirs, into a wheelchair and covered his face with sunglasses in a bid to get him aboard a flight to Berlin.

The women, aged 41 and 66, were detained Saturday and have been released on bail. They have not been charged and police say inquiries are continuing.

Man convicted of pulling over off-duty officer

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I hate it when a plan goes bad.  In this case I don’t know that it could get much worse.  Pulling over a cop while posing as a police officer is probably not going to go over big.   No donuts for the faker icon smile Man convicted of pulling over off duty officer

PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona man accused admonishing motorists of traffic laws while posing as a police officer apparently picked the wrong driver to pull over.

A Maricopa County jury on Tuesday found 62-year-old David Word guilty of impersonating a lawman for pulling over an off-duty police officer. Sentencing is set for May 5.

Avondale police officer Matt Lydic says he was on his way to work in his personal vehicle last May when Word pulled him over while driving a black Ford Crown Victoria equipped with lights and a siren. Lydic says Word told him to slow down, then drove away.

The officer noticed police-style equipment in the car and copied down the license plate, which came back registered to Word. Police arrested Word at his home in Surprise.

Word was acquitted of pulling over a state liquor board member for driving in an interstate carpool lane.

Police: Robber holds up 11 people, gets $6

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

There is nothing worse than holding up 11 people except maybe if you pick the 11 people that only have $6.00 on them.  Maybe when he gets out of jail he will have the skills to run a credit check on victims first.  He gets my Bozo of the month award!

THERMAL, Calif. (AP) — They say crime doesn’t pay. For one robber in California, it did – but not much. Authorities in Riverside County say a woman with a gun robbed 11 customers at a market and got away with $6.

A Sheriff’s Department statement says the woman was armed with a semi-automatic pistol when she went to La Chicanita Market in the town of Thermal on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela says the woman confronted 10 customers in the store and also demanded money from one person who was entering the market. She then fled in an old car.

Nobody was hurt.
