Man on lawn mower charged with DUI, theft and burglary

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I am not sure DUI is the right charge, maybe driving while imbibing with the intent to mow and fish.  Also was he charge for not having tail-lights?   And finally, where was he going fishing, does he know a secret place we could reveal?

ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) — An East Tennessee man driving a lawn mower in the road has been charged with DUI. Athens police said 30-year-old Jimmy Graham Jr. smelled like alcohol and failed a sobriety test Monday after an officer spotted him on the lawn mower. He told the officer he had consumed a beer and taken a stress reliever prescribed to him.

A jailer said Graham was in custody Tuesday and there was no record of him having a lawyer.

The Daily Post-Athenian in Athens reported that Graham was also charged with aggravated burglary and theft under $500.

A police report shows Graham told the officer he had stopped by a house to pick up some fishing poles. Police said the man who lives at the house where Graham had stopped on the mower told police the fishing poles were stolen from his garage.

Police say meat salesman swallowed marijuana joint

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

No really officer I just had a steak and that was some oregano.   I had it wrapped in paper because I didn’t have a baggy, er I mean a spice bottle.  What’s that smell you say, well I sometimes burn oregano because it smells nice.  Have a nice stay in jail buddy, good try!

ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) — Athens police said they have arrested a door-to-door meat salesman who swallowed a half-burned marijuana joint as they watched. The Daily Post-Athenian in Athens reported that 30-year-old Robert Sherk of Cleveland faces charges of tampering with evidence and resisting arrest. A jailer said Wednesday that Sherk was being held on a $5,000 bond and there was no record he has an attorney.

Athens police said officers arrested Sherk after he tossed a half-burned marijuana cigarette into his mouth and then resisted the officers’ efforts to retrieve it and take him into custody.

Officers said Sherk was seated in a vehicle and they were questioning him about selling meat door-to-door without a city permit.

Man cites boredom after arrest on streaking charge

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Keep a many busy and he’ll be clothed for a lifetime, but let boredom set in and streaking is the only option?  WTH?  I am thinkin’ there be somethin’ wrong with this dude!

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) — A man who has been charged with making a naked dash through a Tennessee supermarket told police he was “bored and didn’t have anything else to do.”

The Kingsport Times-News reports that a man entered an IGA store Friday night, wearing nothing but a face mask, and ran around the aisles.

A police report says officers found the suspect in the bathroom of a nearby Hardee’s restaurant. Employees say he entered the fast food outlet wearing nothing but an orange hooded sweat shirt and asked if anyone could lend him clothes. An employee gave him a pair of athletic shorts.

Kingsport police arrested 22-year-old Daniel R. Lee of Church Hill and have charged him with indecent exposure.

Determined bulldog chews officer’s tires, bumper

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Dog gone if that wasn’t one determined pooch!   The question is, how do you teach a dog to attack a police car tire?   I am thinking they may need the dog whisperer.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — What happened to a Chattanooga police officer’s car was certainly under the radar. A city police spokeswoman said Sunday that Officer Clayton Holmes had been checking traffic speeds with radar and stopped to fill out a report when he felt his car shaking. He found a bulldog chewing on the tires. After the dog attacked two passing cars and a second police car, officers used pepper spray and a Taser on it, but the animal wasn’t deterred.

By the time McCamey Animal Center staffers captured that dog and two others, it had chewed two tires and the entire front bumper off Holmes’ patrol car.

Officer Rebecca Royval said the dogs got out of a fence at a nearby welding shop. The owner was cited and the dogs were removed.
