Ohio police seek bank robber who handed two $100 bills to passers-by as he ran away

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Come on this can’t be for real I am sure they were just doing this to hype up the new robin hood flick coming out.  What kind of robber gives away the loot?

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police in Columbus are looking for a man they say robbed a bank near downtown, then handed two $100 bills to passers-by as he ran away. FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas said the man robbed a Huntington Bank branch early Monday afternoon after showing a teller a gun in his waistband. Trombitas said the man was running up the street when he encountered a mother and daughter window-shopping.

The robber stopped and gave them each a $100 bill, assured them it was real, then kept running.

Trombitas said the mother and daughter from the Cleveland area were in town for a visit to Ohio State.

They took the money to the nearest bank which turned out to be the Huntington branch that was just robbed, and there told police what happened.

Man robs Ore. bank, steals car containing 2 dogs

Friday, April 9th, 2010

He probably wrecked because the chi-hua-hua’s started yapping at him and all he could think about was getting out and away from the little yappers.  The good news, no animal was injured during the enactment of this crime.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a man robbed a north Portland Bank of America branch on Wednesday, then stole a Jaguar with two Chihuahuas inside.

He crashed the car a short time later in a fast-food restaurant lot and fled on foot.

The car and dogs belonged to Melanie Davis, who was in the bank during the holdup. She tells The Oregonian the man burst into the bank shouting profanity, said it was a robbery and threatened to shoot those inside if they didn’t cooperate.

After grabbing the money, he demanded Davis’ car keys.

The dogs were recovered unharmed.

Police spokeswoman Detective Mary Wheat says Portland police and the FBI are looking for the robber.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Police said a man did more than take a pickup for a spin during a test drive this week. Red Star Auto of Lincoln reported a pickup had been stolen Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. The dealership’s owner said a 39-year-old man had taken the truck for a test drive earlier Tuesday.

Police believe the man stopped during the test drive to have a copy made of the truck’s key. He returned the truck to the lot, but police believe he stole it overnight using the duplicate key.

The dealership owner drove to the man’s address and found the truck parked about 10 blocks away.

Police arrested the man, and he was still in the Lancaster County jail Thursday morning. Charges had not been filed by early Thursday morning.

Police: Robber holds up 11 people, gets $6

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

There is nothing worse than holding up 11 people except maybe if you pick the 11 people that only have $6.00 on them.  Maybe when he gets out of jail he will have the skills to run a credit check on victims first.  He gets my Bozo of the month award!

THERMAL, Calif. (AP) — They say crime doesn’t pay. For one robber in California, it did – but not much. Authorities in Riverside County say a woman with a gun robbed 11 customers at a market and got away with $6.

A Sheriff’s Department statement says the woman was armed with a semi-automatic pistol when she went to La Chicanita Market in the town of Thermal on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela says the woman confronted 10 customers in the store and also demanded money from one person who was entering the market. She then fled in an old car.

Nobody was hurt.
