(AP) — A Port St. Lucie man who stole a delivery driver’s keys to get back at him over a grudge has been arrested on felony burglary charges. Matthew Everett Gray allegedly admitted swiping the keys of a Pepsi-Cola service truck because he wanted the driver to get in trouble at work. The keys unlocked some 20 vending machines.

The victim identified Gray from surveillance photos captured last week in the Wal-Mart parking lot, where the truck was unattended for an hour.

Police said Gray told them he wasn’t planning to use the keys to steal anything from the vending machines.

He was arrested on charges of felony burglary and theft. No attorney for Gray was listed with the St. Lucie County court.

Man steals $50, flees on Walmart scooter

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I wonder if the police had to do the pit maneuver on the scooter to get him to stop.  Imagine if he’d gotten into a residential section of town doing 4 mph and threatening life and property.  I am glad the police were there to stop him!

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Police say a Pennsylvania man in a hospital gown stole $50 from his ex-girlfriend at Wal-Mart, then tried to flee on a store-owned motorized shopping scooter.

Thirty-two-year-old Craig David Jr., of Smithfield, was charged Wednesday with robbery and disorderly conduct.

State police Cpl. Chuck Frey says David had just been released from a hospital for injuries in a domestic dispute Jan. 1. Frey says David had been hit with a frying pan and table leg.

David was still in a hospital gown Tuesday night when he met an ex-girlfriend who agreed to pay for his prescription medication. Instead, police say he grabbed $50 from her and scooted away.

David remained jailed Thursday. He does not have an attorney.

4-ton statue stolen from motorcycle shop

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Ans we thought the taking of Charlie Tuna was bad.  I want to know how the thieves are going to hide this.  It’s not like they can say, oh I picked it up at a yard sale.   What a bunch of goobs!

LINDON, Utah (AP) — Police said thieves must’ve used heavy equipment to make off with a 4-ton statue mounted outside a Utah motorcycle shop. Lindon Police Chief Cody Cullimore said a back-hoe or a crane likely was required to move the $100,000 sculpture depicting an old-time speed racer. Employees discovered it was missing from the Timpanogos Harley-Davidson store in Lindon, where it had been erected two years ago.

Store manager Kandi Zamora said the granite block on which it was mounted also was missing.

Police investigate alleged theft of illegal ecstasy pill collection

Friday, December 11th, 2009

I just hate it when that happens.  There’s nothing worse than collecting something that is illegal and then having it stolen by a criminal, it’s just not right.   It’s like there’s no honor amongst criminals.

AMSTERDAM (AP) — A man who said he spent two decades collecting Ecstasy pills of all colors and shapes as a hobby has turned to police for help after they were stolen – because he said some of them are poisonous.

Police say the 46-year-old man, who was not identified, decided to report the theft despite the illegal nature of the collection because he was worried about the possible consequences if anybody were to swallow one of the poisoned pills.

It was not immediately clear why about 40 red-and-white pills out of the 2,400-pill-strong collection would be poisoned, but the police said they fear the drugs could be lethal if swallowed.

“That’s really the main reason he came to the police,” said police spokeswoman Esther Naber, adding the man “knows he’s not going to get his collection back.”

A report in De Volkskrant daily Thursday said the man claimed he was not a drug dealer or user.

“I’ve tried it before but didn’t like it,” the report quoted him saying. “My passion for collecting comes from the varied collection of colors, shapes and logos that are printed on the pills.”

According to a police statement, the man gathered the pills over a 20 year period and carefully stored them in coin collecting folders.

The folders were allegedly taken during a break-in Wednesday at the man’s home in Eerbeek, 56 miles (90 kilometers) east of Amsterdam.

Police spokesman Naber said investigators tended to believe the man’s story.

“Why would you make something like this up?” she said.

Prosecutors and drug enforcement officials are still weighing whether to charge him with a crime.

“Given that the pills have disappeared, for the moment there’s no evidence to support a possession charge,” Naber said.

The pills’ street value is estimated at euro11,000 ($16,200).
