Teen crashes car into school, drives down hall

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

This really should start with “There was this time at band camp . . .”.  I’ll bet he was just in a hurry to get to class and couldn’t find a parking spot.  I applaud his effort at defeating tardiness.  Now off to the pokey, don’t pass go . . . you know the rest.

SHORELINE, Wash. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies said a 17-year-old boy crashed his parents’ car through the doors of Shorecrest High School in Shoreline, then drove it down the hall. The car finally stopped 75 yards later when it hit a security office. Two school workers were still on the property and heard the crash.

Police found the teen on school grounds about an hour and a half after the crash late Friday night. He was taken into custody and then brought to Harborview Medical Center for a mental evaluation. Investigators said they do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role.

The boy, from Lake Forest Park, is a student at the school. He was not injured.

D.C. police say a woman awoke to find a stranger cuddling her in bed

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Talk about looking for love in all the wrong places.  At least we can say he’s romantic as he likes to cuddle, unfortunately he is cuddling with a stranger.  Talk about weird.

WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police said a woman awoke to find a stranger cuddling her in bed. Police said they don’t know how the man got into the Glover Park home early Sunday. Sgt. Nicholas Breul said the woman woke up and startled the intruder, who fled the scene. Police said the woman was not injured and she was not able to give a good description.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the incident is related to others, some including sexual assaults, in the past two years on or near the Georgetown University campus. The most recent was reported in August.

Victims’ descriptions suggest that more than one man is involved.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Court papers allege that an Olympia woman, angry that her husband left her, tampered with his power tools so that he received a powerful electric shock. Carolyn Paulsen-Riat was booked Friday into the Thurston County Jail for investigation of third-degree assault, domestic violence, and second-degree malicious mischief. A judge released the 33-year-old woman on her own recognizance.

The Olympian newspaper reported that court documents said that on Jan. 1, the man was using a 220-volt table saw when he received the shock, knocking him to the ground. Thurston County sheriff’s deputies said the man did not need to go to a hospital.

In the documents, deputies said the woman told them she had reversed the wires on his power tools because she was angry he was leaving.
